Best legal mp3 downloads?

Hello,
I'd like to hear some ideas for best website to legally download mp3's? I'm not opposed to paying, in fact I'd prefer it, but what is the cheapest website with the most content?

I searched aximsite and couldn't find a similar thread, but I'd be surprised if this hasn't been discussed already. If there is an existing thread, please point me to it. Maybe this post should be, "Help. How do I effectively search Aximsite?"

Thanks,
Leigh

There is no DRM support in MP3 so if you insist on using MP3 format you're limited to some of the more obscure "off label" stuff.

If you're open to using Fairlplay'd AAC then iTunes. If you're open to using WMA with Microsoft's DRM then I hear that Wal-Mart is pretty cheap.

There is also http://www.allofmp3.com. Although they haven't been forced off the market yet, there seems to be significant doubt about their legality.

There's always Rhapsody / Napster and the monthly fee for all you can download (they have a mobile device fee I believe).

I have no problems with Wal-Mart. And only $0.88 a song. So compared to ITunes, you get 1 free for every 10.

DO NOT USE NAPSTER. They have so many copyright and so much junk attached to it that you cant even play the music on your computer without a direct connection to the internet.

Wal-mark looks great. It doesn't appear to be available in Canada though:

I checked the Wal-mart Canada website and no Music section. Wal-mart.com doesn't allow me to enter a Canadian province for billing address.

Any other ideas? Can anyone elaborate on the "yahoo karea" comment above?

Should have said you were in Canada. ;)

TELUS sells tracks starting at $0.79 per song.

they are all rip offs! just buy the CD and transfer to your device. If you loose your DRM from Walmart that's it no song! you loose.

MY only problem with Napster to go is that every time I connect my Axim it thinks it's a new device. With Napster to go, you can have 3 devices, and change one every 30 days. It reads the Axim as 4 devices (main memory, BIS, CF and SD). I gave up and bought a Zen MicroPhoto as my primary device. Rhapsody, MusicMatch, Yahoo all limit the number of times you can transfer a song to a portable. With 3 MP3 players in the house (including my wife and daughter), that can limit you on some songs. I could never get playlists right with these sites either. Napster I could get playlists to work on the Ax. If you don't mind paying for each song, then any site will do.
