Hello!
So, I have some Anime in .mkv format and they all are 233MB. What I would like to do is to resize them and have them in another file format so that I can play them on my Axim X51v. Anyone got good suggestions for this? I have already a program to convert my DVD's to wma so they are around 100 - 200MB. But now I need from File's! Thank you all! Regards, Filip

Its a matroska video file format (format from russia i think)
If you use TCPMP Player on your PDA it also works in .mkv file format. If you like to convert it into a avi (mp4,xvid - great pic quality) format use the PocketDivxEncoder Download from here: http://divx.ppccool.com/ (its multilingual) some screenshots of this software: http://www.pocketpc-blog.de/pocketdivxencoder.html Its Freeware

Hi there,
just resizing isn't possible, so you have to expect a quality loss because of re-encoding. However that shouldn't be too bothering if done properly. Why do you need to resize btw, in order to be able to bring more than one episode ? Anyway, as for the tools that might be usefull, can't help you if you're using Windows. If you're not, then you've already heard of mplayer which comes with mencoder. There's a windows version actually, but that's a command line tool. Unless of course you're ok with that. ![]()

Actually you can, well at least mencoder (mplayer too if you use a console video output driver... but that's useless
). However in order to get a good result, a great deal of searching on the net might be necessary. There are many settings when you encode a movie, and if not set correctly can give very bad results. My first attempt (and for the moment, last one too ) gave a 700Mo DivX, after 24h (on a 1Ghz, but still that's too much) with an awfull image quality !Anyway long story short, the app proposed above uses mplayer and (from what I saw on the website) comes with a preconfigured optimal set of options for the encoding, so don't need to bother much. Good luck.

However i got one more question in mind.. Should i have 320x240 movies or 640x480? Btw, just noticed that the thread is misspelled.. hehe ![]()

Hi there,
well given the fact that the axim x51v has a 640x480 screen resolution, it can seem reasonable to work on such a size. However, you can reduce it more in my humble opinion (on pc divx are not encoded on screen resolution size but pass pretty well when correctly made). The best thing to do is just try and decide by yourself .
