Aximsitemobileicon TCPMP Shoutcast

Afternoon Everyone-

I've been a long time TCPMP user, and also a shoutcast user (525 powertracks is the stream I always listen to).

About 2 months ago, TCPMP stopped working with shoutcast. I'm on version 0.71 with all available codecs/extensions installed. When I try to play the stream, I get

"Player: http://64.62.252.134:6670 Unknown file format!"
I've tried playing the stream by URL and using the pls file

Anyone else notice that shoutcast no longer works with TCPMP? I've also noticed at the same time it stopped working with my desktop version of Windows Media Player. Seems to be right about the time Winamp released an upgrade.

any thoughts??

I just tried some of my PLS favorites on TCPMP and most of them still worked . Did you try opening them from TCPMP? Also, check the URLs to make sure they are still valid.

If it stopped working on two different players, maybe the link isnt working anymore.
You can always get older versions of tcpmp from their site if they stop supporting something, doubt they would on purpose.

I think it is the link that is broken.

I have experimenetet a situation like that, where I had a link with an direct IP adress. Try to locate the station via the schoutcast site.

I have no problem doing this with TCPMP. You might want to try checking all the streaming formats in Options... Settings... Select Page... File Associations. If it was deselected somehow, then I don't think it would be automatically returned to WMP. Also, make sure you have a good WiFi connection

I suspect this shoutcast stream might have changed. Can anyone give it a quick whirl, see if it works for them? Here's the information from Winamp (which is playing the stream now):

http://64.62.252.134:6670
Server: SHOUTcast Distributed Network Audio Server/win32 v1.9.5
Content-Type: audio/aacp
Stream name: 525 Power Tracks

I also navigated to through shoutcast with PIE to the stream, clicked the link, and got the same error:
"Player: http://64.62.252.134:6670 Unknown file format!"

I get a different error when I'm trying to access a stream that doesn't exist:
"Error: Could not open URL!"

This seems like shoutcast (or some of the shoutcast streams) changed their format to something that TCPMP doesn't support. Was hoping someone might have a codec I could download or maybe that CoreCodec was aware and would be adding support soon. Hmm.....

UPDATE: Infernal. I tried another shoutcast stream, and the codec is listed as MPEG Audio. The stream I want is listed as audio/aacp. I'm guessing that means that TCPMP and Windows Media Player 10 (desktop or mobile) don't support the AACP codec. AGH! Why do they have to change things!!!

Thanks for the replies!

Icon14 Found a Decoder!

Good news all:

I found a decoder that works with AAC+ streams for both WMP and TCPMP:

TCPMP:
http://www.rarewares.org/aac.html

For those of you using TCPMP, you'll want the BetaPlayer/TCPMP plugin. I haven't tested any of the other plugins, but I did verify that this one works with AAC+ shoutcast streams.

WMP:
http://www.orban.com/plugin/

Download and install the plugin. When you want to play a stream, open URL:

icyx://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:YYYY

Note the ICYX in place of the HTTP. This forces WMP to use the plugin DLL, and still allows you to play regular HTTP streams w/o a plugin, if desired. read the readme for full info.

Enjoy!

Is there a user's guide somewhere that explains how TCPMP works?
