Copy recorded TV from MCE to Axim

I tried to copy recorded TV from my Windows XP Media Center PC to the Axim via "Sync to device" in Media Center. Does not work. MCE does not detect the Axim and keeps asking to connect a device.

I know from this Forum that there is MyTVtoGo, but still want to try it with the build in MCE.

Thanks

Can you just copy the file using a card reader?

That works, but then it`s huge (2GB for 1 hour) and it`s not resized for the PPC.

A card reader should actually be faster than syncing the file. Also, if the file size is really that large, then you may have problems playing it on your Axim, even if the format is appropriate.

Okay, took me the better part of the afternoon to figure this out. But finally I did it.

Most important: Windows Media Player 10 has to be installed on the Windows Media Center PC.

The steps: In "ActiveSync" you have to select "Media Files". Then select and double click "Media" in ActiveSync, Windows Media Player 10 starts (on the PC).

There select "Sync" in the taskbar, the windows split, left is the media-content of the PC, right you see our Axim (rather the CF-card on the Axim, make sure that you have a lot of free space on it).

In the left window select "Edit Playlist", a pop-up starts, under "View library by" select TV and you see all the recorded TV on your MCE PC. Select the programs you want to convert to the Axim and confirm with OK.

Back in the Windows Media Player press "Start Sync" and it will convert the selected TV-program(s).

I selected a 30-minute TV-show, it took 18 minutes to convert and copy it to the Axim. Windows Media Player converted and decreased the file from original 858 MB (original file on the PC) to 185 MB. Afer that you can watch it on the Axim with Windows Media Player 10.

And here we go, Tv to go for free.

Granted, I've updated to MP11 beta, but still can't get my Axim x50v to sync. It will work if I sync directly to the CF-card (or SD-card) but then Media Player 10 on the Axim will not recognize the file. I'm thinking that Media Player 10 Mobile just won't recognize the file type.

Does anyone know if there are any updates for MP10 Mobile?

Thanks!
