Disjointed video frames when playing "m4v" video podcast using TCPMP

I have used TCPMP (072RC1) to play video podcast from ABCNEWS, CNN, and Washington Post with some success. For some files with extension .m4v (e.g., ABC Nightline, CNN), I've got good audio but poor video with disjointed still frames.

I have installed ffmpeg plugin on my x51v. Are there other video plugins for TCPMP or video players that I should try?

The ABCNEWS video podcasts can be found: http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/Podcasting/

The m4v files that are having difficulty playing are probably MPEG4 Part 10 (aka "AVC" aka "H.264"... see http://mobilesmith.blogspot.com/2006...-overview.html for an explanation of the different MPEG4 "Parts").

By default TCPMP will play MPEG 4 Part 10 video through the FFMPEG decoder, which is not very optimized. You will need the "CoreAVC" decoder which was available about 6-8 months and is supposedly going to be released very soon. There should be more information released in a week or two about this plugin.

There are other potential solutions for playing MPEG4 Part 10 video, but there are no positive reviews of the other options: VLC or Nero Showtime Mobile. See http://feederreader.pocketcasting.co...hp?p=1698#1698 for a still-accurate description of current availability and see http://www.feederreader.com/mediachart.html for an exhaustive list of players if you want to contact the developers and ask about MPEG4 Part 10 playback.

For what it's worth, Nero Mobile just issued another press release about, but it doesn't appear to contain any more information on availabliity. The latest available is Nero Showtime Mobile Beta 2.

I wish I could give you better news, but as far as I can tell (and I try to watch very closely), we're all still waiting for a decent, legal, publicly-available solution.

I am impressed by the quality of responses that I get from Aximsite's members. Even though my problems may not be totally solved, I learned a lot by posting my problems here. Thanks MobileSmith on this one.
