cannot get MortPlayer to find anything!

Following this thread's discussion I installed MortPlayer on my x51v WM5. I have waded all around it but cannot get it to find any music at all. All my music is on a CF card in the artist folders under the Music top level folder - ie exactly where windows media sync'd it to. I have now uninstalled but if anyone can tell me how to get this to work I'll reinstall and give it a 2nd chance.

Otherwise I'm sticking to windows media which is fine except I cannot get it to play across folders - so any shuffling is within artist. How do I go across artist/albumn lists?

I recently bought a player. First I tried the free players, and they all work fine, including WMP. But none of them support gapless playback. So for me they are useless, since so many of my CDs are gapless. Nothing is more irritating than gaps in the music where it isn't supposed to be! That leaves two commercial alternatives: Pocket Music Bundle (not the freeware version) and Pocket Player. Pocket Music has the best graphic design, and is probably the easiest. But Pocket Player supports album art, so I fell for that.

Probably a bit late, but fyi...
MortPlayer doesn't list not supported file types. WMP probably copied the files as WMA, which isn't supported by MortPlayer.

Hi - thanks - never too late. Useful to hear that. I'm not going to convert all music to yet another format (already have it on iTunes and WMA!). So, I'll keep to not haveing mortplayer.
Cheers

So what are the advantages of these other players against media player 10. I like media player because I can set my playlist of MP3's on my computer and sync it to the Axim 51V. I can understand the gap issues, but I stiched those songs together as a single MP3 (Like the rif on Abby road). Just want to know what the other advantages are.

1. Almost all of them have better playlist options, regarding organization and navigation. I can do with one or two clicks what takes me 4 clicks in WMP10 (opening a playlist: I don't have to go through the Library -> SD Card -> Audio -> Albums menu, then hit 'select).

2. Almost all of them have better sound quality than WMP10 and handle more file formats (OGG, FLAC).

3. Better equalizer settings -> It's a lot easier for me to tune the music the way I want with most of them.

4. Auto-Resume. I don't recall WMP giving me AutoResume options the way I can get in PocketPlayer and GSPlayer, IIRC.

Thanks, The autoresume feature is a good one. It annoys me how you have to restart Media Player. I didn't have to do that with my Garmin M3 and WM 9.

I like Mortplayer for the alarm and sleep features.
