Question Help! Need to convert .VOB to TCPMP readable format

Hi all,
Hope someone can help me on this. I have some lecture dvd's and wanted to watch them on my handheld. I have the obvious Windows media player but installed and use TCPMP/Core player as the default. I tried copying the dvd contents over to my SD card using a card reader which was successful but trying to access them thru TCPMP they dont appear, they are visible thru WM but cant play,Can also see them in file explorer so I know they are there. Their extensions end in .vob, .ifo, .bup . I have tried copying them using some free nero express software I got with my DVD burner thinking as to convert them into one playable dvd file but no joy and I'm lost. Help pleeeeease

'I'm not sure, but did you try copy it while the Axim was docked. usually windows media player will convert when it knows a device is connected.

Tried something for conversion I saw in a posted recently. It's called Super Media Converter and it worked pretty good in mpeg4 to avi. In looking back at the post this person is also from Columbus, Ohio. Thanks Bob (rkintz).

If you have the original DVDs, then just use FairUse, a free application that will convert it to AVI in one step. You can then use TCPMP to view.

Moved to Multimedia.

Thanks all for the replies. SolSie - read your write up.Excellent as it was,I tried it and it didnt work for me. My video is not a full length feature film eg like black hawk down. Its a lecture video of a medical course and it has several .VOB files in it which I'm assuming relates to the different sections eg. 1 - Introduction 2.-Abdomen 3.- Neck etc Using your method outlined in your write-up; it picked just one 8min segment when the whole video is at least about an hour long.
The .IFO files are also seperate, will they or are they automatically added. At my wits end here :rolling:
Tried the pocketDivxEncoder and it just wasn't that helpful. There were about 5 different vob files in the folder representing different sections plus the seperate audio files and it was a nightmare. It took over 2hrs to copy just 23mins of video. That came without the sound!! Is that normal? Any other solution as keeping the computer on all night for just one dvd is not appealing in the least!
Any suggestions and thanx
