pocket dvd studio

I purchased this software because i usually am on the road and watching movies really relaxes me and time goes by quicker. The video looks great but I'm currently frustrated on how long it takes to convert. Like if i were to take my dvd thundercats (yah i watch cartoons so what! it seems take almost double the time of the actual length. So my questions are:
1. Is this about the average time to convert the dvd. or is pocket studio usually faster then others. if there are other faster ones (doesn't have to be pocketpc related since tcmp plays all sorts of formats.. )
2. i have a desktop and laptop and the program is installed on both.. desktop has faster dvd drive and was wondering if this will speed the conversion as well... currently using the laptop.
3. I have external dvd drive as well.. would i be able to put a dvd disk in each drive and start the program so basically two in one action?

Since dvd takes quite long to convert, it's probally best to just do this when i'm about to go to bed right? But sometimes the software pauses since the dvd may bedirty or not reading properly.. which basically has it stalled in same place.

One good thing though is that even though it takes long,i'm still able to multi task without any speed slowing down..

but anytip on speeding up this process wouldbe great.. ifnot then i guess i'm just normal..

it depends on your processor speed and the quality or compression ratio and your hd r/w speed it takes my 800mhz laptop about two times the video length to encode to mpeg but only it can encode to divx almost the same time as the length of the video

I think alot depends on the video-audio quality you want, output file size, format, and resolution. Try playing with different settings. I convert to divx 6.25. It didn't seem like conversion took long but I never timed it!

I use a 1.6GHz laptop and convert to MPEG (sometimes DiVX) with a resolution that produces about a 256M sized 100 min movie and it takes me about 90-100 mins -- translation, about a 1:1 conversion ratio. The quality is ok and usually includes closed caption.

Hope this helps.
