Mad i feel stupid

I just payed `5 bucks to the aximstore for coreplayer. All I needed it for was movies and aac music.

It is no great shakes. I should have stuck with free tcpmp.

By the way I needed to set my processor to fastest and deselect the default "auto" speed to stop the jerkiness of movie playback.

waste of money? why is anyone shelling out bucks for this? why i ask why?

People pay for it so that they can have an app on their PocketPC that calls home and violates their privacy.

Does it really? I'm not doubting you -- Just wasn't aware. What sort of stuff does it report? My pocketpc username? What song I'm listening to? Even when I'm offline?

Also, what's this have anything to do with DRM? As far as I know, I didn't think CorePlayer supported any sort of DRM'd files.

ATM it doesn't call home at all. It might be added in some future update.

Heh, thanks for that. Now when anyone asks why I don't buy CD's anymore I can just point them to that.

Honestly, that pisses me off. ALOT. PS3 bashing, here I come.

Uh... does anyone bother to READ websites anymore? I guess not - especially as it's been stated that CorePlayer, at this time, does NOT CALL HOME. In the future, they're planning online functionality for it, which may include it checking with the server for updates or to see if your current playlist is synchronized with your CoreTheque one.

Stupid bloody morons - most of you are almost as bad as the iSheep who claim that Apple can do no wrong, that Macs are invulnerable to viruses and that nobody's managed to hack a Mac yet (and it's been done in under half a minute at some hacking cons), and that Bill Gates is the Devil while Steve Jobs can do no wrong and created the Trash bin (stolen from Xerox), the mouse (stolen from Xerox), the GUI (stolen from Xerox-PARC), and so forth.

Between this and the idiots posting SPAM about selling 'ipod 60 Nano Vidoe', I wonder why I even bother coming onto this board anymore.

ucdoc - what type of movies are you running? I'm decoding AAC/AVC files without issue which were encoded at 640x480. Xvid movies pose no problem unless the bitrate's too high, and I'm making sure the Intel 2700g decoder's on.

Coreplayer cannot and will not play AC3 -- I know that pissed off a lot of people (including myself).

Most people are angry that Coreplayer lacks in something when compared to TCPMP (no plugins = big).

CorePlayer also lacked an Options screen upon initial release, and this was fixed in 1.02 - they're still putting things back in, and have indicated Hotkey support's going back in too. Besides, there's still BetaPlayer coming out again - I personally advise people who aren't happy with CorePlayer's current set of features to wait for CorePlayer Free or BetaPlayer.

Still, as I keep noting, who the hell is stupid enough to use AC3 for portable players? It's like complaining about a cheap PMP with a 3" screen not supporting 1080p - it's overkill, and the product's still being updated/improved. Personally, I'd rather have had them wait another few weeks so they could've shipped CorePlayer with the features that had to be put into 1.02 and the upcoming 1.1... but that's their fault for setting a solid release date too, then finding that not all the bugs had been quashed.

And yes, it IS your damned fault if you went ahead and bought the product a few weeks after it'd been released, expecting support for features which others have complained are missing. Again and again and again. It's been a month now - there's no excuse NOT to have heard about it somewhere, especially with all the bitching that has gone on within this and other forums. It's like a Windows Vista user complaining that WinFS is missing after buying it - they'd announced it was missing in action ages ago, and reviewers have pointed out this fact time and again.

Three words: Official AVC/AAC Support. It's somewhat smoother than the plugin I got for 0.61 for TCPMP and AVC playback, and they're also mentioning that they're improving the decoding engine for that as well as they've been working on the algorithms for the CoreAVC software. Many of the features which are missing right now (AC3 support, mappable buttons) are going back in, and the talk about being able to download customized builds of CorePlayer which include exactly what you need in terms of components (which, in my opinion matches the plugin functionality of TCPMP... not that I used that much anyways, as I can only think of the SRT plugin as an example of a third-party plugin) keeps me tuned into it at the moment.

And as noted, it's much smoother playing certain types of files with AAC and AVC (h.264), so I've been able to transcode videos to those codecs and improve video quality and reduce file sizes.
