Question How to convert .avi file into something smaller for Dell Axim?

What is the best program and way to convert large avi files down so I can fit more of them on my SD card? Most the stickys I read talked about dvd to avi, but I need something good for resizing the video.

Do a search for "Fairuse Tutorial" on aximsite. Fairuse is a great conversion program - can choose any size when converting - program is free and this tutorial is excellent. Hope this helps.

Oh okay, I thought Fairuse was only a dvd ripper. From what I understand it keeps asking for a dvd, I need something that will work with already ripped avi files.

I've had good luck with this: http://divx.ppccool.com/. I get really small avi's that TCPMP seems to digest well.

AutoGK will do it. It's extremely simple to use:

Which format is the best as far as size and quality? Using TCPMP I've been able to play 3g2 files which I'd currently been watching on my cellphone which took a 700 meg file down to about 160 megs and came out quiet nice converting with 3gp Converter.
