Question Music file transfer causes ActiveSync disconnect

Hello, I am new here, and I am so glad to have found this site!

I have read many of the posts that seem to pertain to my problem, but have yet to find a solution. Therefore I will I wish to state it directly. Forgive me if it seems a duplication.

I wish to copy MP3 files to my Axim. I am using ActiveSync 3.5 (3.7 didn't work either), and I have a CF card.

I have attempted to copy music files in the following ways with no luck:

- Copy the files to the "Pocket_PC My Documents" folder on my desktop
- Copy using the ActiveSync Explore button (to either the CF card directly, or to the Built In storage
- Used Windows Media Player (v 9.0) to "push" to the device (created a play list)

In all of the cases the transfer starts and a few seconds later the Axim disconnects and cannot be detected. To sync again I have to reset my Axim (pushing the spot on the side).

One other note, it appears that ANY file over 5MB that I try to transfer has this same problem. I was able to transfer an MP3 that was less than 5MB.

Can ANYONE help me with this? I would be SO grateful!! If more information is needed let me know. Or perhaps direct me to a site to find information on solving the problem. I have checked the Microsoft Support site with no luck.

Thank you in advance!

I would recommend using a card reader. Even if you could get Activesync to work, it is tediously slow. Using a card reader, I can transfer over what would take 1/2 hour on Activesync in 2 min. or so using my PCMCIA adaptor.

Question

Is your ax's power settings set for continous power when your transfering through activesync? The reason I ask is because I use activesync 3.6 and just transfered a 78mg over through it in about 17 minutes and I didn't touch the ax while it was syncing the files. Have you checked?
Good luck

I am having the same exact problem with my wife's Ax, but not with mine. It is very frustrating!

I am still looking for a solution. I will probably buy a card reader when I can fit it in my VERY tight budget. :-)

And my Ax is set for continuous power when transferring. In every aspect it appears fine...except when I am trying to sync large files.

It is VERY frustrating. I have to wonder how widespread the problem is.

I have the same problem, too. But with a potential twist. I have
set up two partnerships; one with my office PC, one with the PC at home. The Office machine is what I consider the master, since that is where all my schedule and contact information lives. On the Home machine, I only sync "files". Both machines are running Active-Sync 3.7. The office machine can transfer successfully, but the home machine disconnects as mentioned herein.

Also, what is the "card reader" you all are talking about? Does it attach to the PC, the Axim, both?

Thanks in advance.
