The Axim is great for watching TV programmes but I wanted a process or app that would automatically convert recorded programmes into a format ready to use by the next day.
After looking around I decided to write a small script that does just that.
I have a TV card that records TV programmes in mpeg2 format.
Overnight the script finds the recorded programmes and creates a job for a conversion programme called MeGUI.
MeGUI is then started and converts the mpeg2 file into a mp4 AVC file ready for the use on my Axim 51v in the morning.
MeGUI is an opensource program that converts a wide range of video formats into AVC, xvid, snow and lmp4.
Because MeGUI allows you to create a customised job, you can use it to create files exactly how you want and then create a template using the process I have put together to convert all TV programmes without any interaction.
I have created a guide which is available here
http://axim.curlybags.co.uk
I am considering adding some additional functions to the script so that it automatically copies the files onto the axim or a memory card on the PC.
As the guide has not been used by anyone, if there are any bits that don't seem to make sense, just ask.
PS MeGUI is just a program I found, I have no links with the development of this product, although I have been a keen reader of the doom9.org website for several years.
