I dont understand, V.Dub wont convert already in mpg form?

I am confused. I am able to encode the DVD that I converted with Flask... but the MPG, and AVI files which I already have collected are not able to be opened, by Flask, or Virtual DUB. How can I take an AVI or MPEG movie I already have, and convert it???

ok, i understand more now, but am still alittle confused... i was able to convert something from DVD, and turn it into a usable pocket mvp format, but i still would like to know if there is a way to convert windows mpg and avi files into a virtual dub format. i thought i read something about a patch of some sort to do this. am i wrong?

VirtualDub can only work with video files that are encoded in some form of Video For Windows (VFW) codec. There are many VFW codecs out there, DivX being only one. However there are also many codecs that are not VFW, so you will need either: a video editor that can work with those files, or a converter utility that will make a VFW version of the file so you can work with it in VDub.

Run a search in Google for Virtualdub. You should get results showing different versions that people have come up with / added to the original. To see what codec your avi movies were encoded in do a search for a freeware program called "Gspot". It will tell you everything. I learned all I ever needed to know and a lot more from the site www.vcdhelp.com and there is a specific one aimed at PPC called www.pocketmatrix.com. Check out their guides and tools (Gspot should be there) sections.
