There's supposed to be a free version, BetaPlayer, which is what TCPMP used to be coming sometime. I suppose you COULD wait for that, too. I'm waiting for the next Core update myself, which has been delayed a bit.
Of course, now I've said this, I expect another competitor bashing post/ad to appear shortly..
Yeah -- I've never understood why you can't visit the 40th Floor website. I'll try and stay away from rude commenting, but I will ask what the reasoning behind it is if anybody can clarify it.
Coreplayer update is coming LATE APRIL now, folks. I guess that's just the way it goes..
Yeah right.... late April, I'll believe when I see it

I am beginning to think that CorePlayer is a SCAM! There was a great product out there TCPMP that was free, but worked really well. So then we get a new company that tells us this CorePlayer is the REPLACEMENT for TCPMP and that it is going to be the next best thing in the world, pay us NOW for LESS features, more bugs, a pretty face and we PROMISE to make this really good product.
SO WHAT HAPPENED!!! WHERE'S THE BEEF? There has not be any update to CorePlayer since the first weeks after it was released. It's like they took our money and ran.
Does anyone else feel this way?

Originally, April. Personally, I'd rather they wait and put in the features they'd promised with 1.1, rather than have a rushed release like 1.0, which required 1.04 to fix all of the missing features which should've shipped with it to start (Microdrive Mode, the playlist stuff, etc).

Give it some time. Many products were delayed, such as that suntek whatever-its-called USB Host card.
It was delayed YEARS, but it has finally come out.
Windows is another classic example. (of course, Windows still sucks.... but...... at least it still came out eventually)

They have been asked to add some new features, this was mentioned in the thread. I do hope that whoever is asking helps contribute significantly to their business. It sure is depressing/angering to Joe User who purchased it. If it's some big business contributing some serious $$ to them, I can understand it from their business perspective.
It's hard to say, without knowing details. Guess does sum it up pretty well.
Hopefully the fix the program with the 'X' and Task managers where it requires a softreboot before it reloads and the issue when the Volume is up all the way coreplayer doesn't play anything.

1) I, along with MANY other Aximsite users actively boycott 40th Floor's software. Do a search for 40th Floor, check out the reprehensible anti-consumer practices this company is involved in and decide for yourself.
2) TCPMP 0.70 is fine for my needs. Buying CorePlayer is simply for supporting the authors.
3) An update will come; don't get your dell panties in a twist. ;)
