QT fairuse- help!
I downloaded this, extracted the files, then used the .exe It brings up the menu, I click begin conversion...... Done. But then when I go under my music>itunes>itunes music it still shows up as a protected .m4p file. Then when I put it on my axim, it has no idea what to do with it. What am I doing wrong?

Are you running the latest iTunes 7.1.1? If so then download the new .cfg file here and just drop it into the folder where you unzipped the original files. This will fix the latest iTunes update. Let us know how you fair and if you are still having problems the forum that is linked above for the download should be able to solve them for you. They come out with new fixes pretty quick after the new iTunes updates come out.

There is a readme.txt file that comes with the QTFairuse zip file that offers troubleshooting ideas. Most often the problem is that you have to reregister iTunes COM. Here are the four suggestions from that readme.txt file.
* Troubleshooting If some of the songs fail to convert, please try some of the following steps. 1) If you get any COM errors, run "iTunes.exe /regserver" to reregister iTunes COM. 2) Make sure you can actually play the song in iTunes, i.e. it is authorized. 3) Before starting QTFairUse6, start iTunes and wait until it's done checking for new versions, downloading artwork etc. 4) If you always get "Error while dumping; deleting incomplete file", especially if your song has an "unusual" bitrate (not 128 kbit/s), edit QTFairUse6.cfg (e.g. with Notepad) and change the "HookType" value to 1. To reregister just navigate to the iTunes directory from the command line and type in the command shown above for #1. You can also go over to the hymn forums and get help if these solutions don't work for you. | |||||||
