Worried Mortplayer Release Candidate 7 and Microdrives

A while ago, after stubbornly sticking to TCPMP for all my media needs, I decided to start looking at a dedicated music playing app. Mostly due to TCPMP's sluggish handling of my large playlists. After reading about what was out there, I decided to finally take a look at Mortplayer.

So, I go out to Mort's site, find the downloads, and being the adventurous type, download the latest RC that he has available. Of course, I also had to get a cool skin for it.

After installing it, I start playing with it, and I was really impressed - things like changer mode, car mode, and quick (my playlist would take forever to load on TCPMP). After playing with skinning and some of the other features, I set it up for use with my 8Gb microdrive (caching etc). Shortly after this I started having problems. Mortplayer would play a song or two, and then exit. At first I wasn't sure if it was just the size of my playlist, or what, it worked ok when I first installed it.

So, I decided that my adventurous desires were misplaced and that I needed to go to the latest version. Unfortunately I just wasn't satisfied with it. Some of the things I was the most pleased with (quick playlist loading, sweet skins, etc) were not there. So I went back to the release candidate, determined to narrow it down and let Mort know about the bug.

I didn't have much luck at first but last night I sat there mucking around with settings, and low and behold, after I turned off Microdrive caching, my problems went away. Unfortunately, so does my battery running in this mode.

I went to Mort's forums to report the bug, but for some reason I can't seem to create a forum account so that I can report the issue. So I'm posting here in hopes that perhaps Mort will see it here (I'm pretty sure I've seen posts by him in the past) and to find out if anyone else has anyone else experienced this problem? Or perhaps one of you Mortplayer users out there have a log in on his message board and would be willing to report it there for me?

Bummed,

I have been using RC6 with the Seagate microdrive and have not had any problems, except the battery life, but I also use it with bluetooth headphones. I manually set the power to power saving mode and have the display off. Generally listened to it for 45 - 60 minutes at a time. Occasionally it stopped suddenly, usually because other stuff was in memory. a memmaid clean would do the trick.

Finally, you might want to pm "mort" , so if he does check in here, he'll know you have a question. Good luck.
