I'm starting to sound like a broken record with this, but I'll do it again: VirtualDub only supports video files encoded with one of the many Video For Windows (VFW) codecs. If your source file is using a non-VFW codec, VirtualDub cannot work with it.

Try checking around on doom9.org or dvdrhelp.com for conversion utilities.

my memory may be off on this one but I seem to recall svcd's being mpegs, in which case you need a version of virtualdub that can open mpegs. it used to be that there was a special modified version that could do that. virtualdub-mpeg or some such thing.

Cool Convert

You may want to try to convert to Window Media format. This works well with the PPC and you can convert about 1 hour of video into about a 120 meg file.

See the XP producer or the Media Encoder for 98. and 2000.

You will also need to use isobuster (freeware) to filter out the mpeg data from the svcd data. If you don't the sound and video will not sync.
