You do not want to install any updates from Microsofts website. Those are for older systems. Your Axim will be kept up to date by making sure you have the latest ROM update. That is how Dell is releasing the updates. If you apply that update it will actually roll your media player back to an older version than the one you have on your axim.

Only download updates from Dell, not microsoft.

Running that will downgrade your WMP ... The Axim has Windows Media Player 8.5 ... If you run the update of MS's site it will change to version 8 ... I made that mistake one ... To recover I had to hard reset my Axim ...

Its best not to look. You'll get in trouble if you do. :p

Just keep an eye on here and on Dells download section for updates... :D

When you installed WMP 8 from microsoft.com what happened that forced you to hard reset. I did the exact same thing today and now can't get WMP to start.

I wouldn't go so far as to say "Don't install any updates from Microsoft" but MS could give a little more information like "this update installs Media Player 8.0 for PPC" so users could at least compare versions. Dell could have mentioned something too, for that matter.

But there are some updates not included with any ROM updates, such as Transcriber, ActiveSync 3.7, the new Reader, etc.

It'd be nice if they could create a pocketpcupdate.com that would check what's already there before listing any 'updates' just like windowsupdate.com does.
