Divx Movies are DARK - Followed the 2 Guide Here

I followed both guides here on the forum - The DVD to AVI - then the Divx Guide.

Everything is great - Except the movie is darker than the original. I know that you can adjust the gamma, both before the encode, or after the encode in the player - but is this normal? Why couldn't you rip the dvd to avi and it look EXACTLY the same? After all, I did follow the guide here.

If you're using PocketMVP you can adjust the playback brightness control (just like on a TV). It could be the setting within PMVP is set too dark for you. In PMVP go to Settings>Configure. Remember to tap "Save" when done.

I don't know if PocketTV has the same (if that's what you're using), but I would assume so.

Remember, the Axim's screen is alot dimmer than most PC screens and has far less color saturation (compare your Axim with the screen projected on your PC using MS Remote Display, huge difference!).

Also, try tilting your Axim's base away from you, as it is brighter when viewing from the "top".

Actually, when I encode vids with VirtualDub I bump up the colour saturation to 140%, which brings it right back to the colours you see on the desktop.
