I am having a problem transferring mp3 files from the PC to the Axim. When attempting to make the transfer, the session stops mid-stream no matter how large or small the mp3 file is. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it?

Did it completely stop do did it say it was restarting? Many people have reported the Axim appears to restart several times during transfer of large files (although I'm surprised you say it happens with any sized file), but they do eventually complete the copying if you just let it go.
If you are putting them on a memory card, the better way for large files or large numbers of files is to use a card reader. They are pretty inexpensive and much faster than ActiveSync over the cable or cradle.

The Axim does not restart the transmission. In fact, it disconnects the active sync connection totally. I have to manually restart the activge sync connection totally by removing the device from the cradle and reseating it. I then attempt the mp3 transmission again with the same results. Help!

Just tried copying a 4.72MB MP3 File from an SD card (128MB) to my laptop, then back again. No problems either ways, and was quicker than I expected too. I don't normally use an SD card (its my sisters, but hope to buy a 128MB or 256MB SD card soon), and have some 64MB CF Cards. I use a PC Card Adapter with them. The speed difference is very noticable. Some of the files (60MB sometimes) take about a minute on the adapter, but through the Axim, I don't think I dare try. I agree with the others in that a reader is a good idea. If you have a laptop, try to get a PC Card adapter, as they are faster. If not, get a USB2.0 reader, which will be faster than USB1.1 (only if you have USB2 of course). Good Luck!!!

You might want to check to see if the Power settings, under the Control tab, are not set to "turn off the device if not used for" xx minutes. It may be what's disconnecting it.
Personally I'd use a card reader as mentioned previously. Good Luck
