Mad MP3 Poor Playback Quality

This is my last try to get some help from the Axim vets before I go out and buy an iPod. Ive tried 3 different MP3 player/EQ utilities and I still can't get the music to sound anywhere near as clean or as loud as I could with the same headphones and my Ipaq 3700. I was on a flight last week and couldn't even hear the music over the engines.

I want to use the Axim for everything, GPS, email, Outlook, MP3 but the MP3 part is so bad that I'm thinking I made the wrong purchase decision. Anyone have any ideas/fixes for me?

given the axe's weak headphone output, some noise canceling headphones might be a good way to go.....

Withmp3 has the best sound, followed closely by the new pocketplayer 2.1

Perhaps there is something wrong with your Ax?

Mine plays MP3's/wma's/etc quite clearly through the headphone jack to a volume level that is about as loud as I could stand.

I don't have a problem with the volume on mine either. I fly for a living, and I use my Axim for music and/or video every time I have to ride in the back with the other passengers and I hear everything just fine with my headphones.

With some phones I have too little volume. Just have to use less hungry phones. withMP3 is my choice as well.

This may help. I haven't tried it yet, has anyone here used this? There are other amps available, but this one seems the most portable.

I get the most output from the new little sony clip-ons that sit sideways in the ear. Nice quality, very sensitive. about $15.00

I have those new Koss earbuds with the foam pads. Great for blocking out airplane noise, and they have great bass too.

what operating system was on the axim? WM2003 seems to increase the axim's volume capabilty by quite a bit. you might want to wait until the upgrade CD comes out.

and if youre having problems with sound quality over earphones you should consider either getting new earphones or getting the axim replaced as well.....the axim's speaker is one thing, but I use my axim to play mp3s constantly (including at least once on the plane), and the sound quality and volume are great.

I recently bought a pair of sony earbuds for $10.....price seems steep for some copper string, but they're sooooo good....

whatever you do.....DON'T buy Coby headphones, at least the ones with the thin wires, it's like they dont use enough copper wire or something--the connection started to fail in both of my Coby sets after only a few days in one of them, a few weeks in the other.

I use good efficient Sony Street style head phones, CAD$70 (USD$40). Good driver to deliver good bass, mid and treble tones. Efficient as the Music coming from PM or WithMp3 overcomes the noise of the train (Subway) or bus.

Also good with Ispeak Text to speach app.
