External microphone?

Does anyone have any experience with recording from an external audio source (mic or line) on their X5? I would really like to be able to record some live music at our local sessions, but haven't seen any way to do it. A CF card with 1/8" jack? Run it back through the headphone jack?

I've tried the built in mic, but it just isn't capable of a good recording in this setting (or any setting, really ).

Thanks,
Erik

Haven't heard of such a thing, though I'm sure most people will answer that a PPC mic wasn't intended to record cd-quality music etc. It's mostly just there for voice notes, etc.

Edit: After looking in one of the hardware forums here, I found this link for a S/PDIF CF card.

It ain't cheap though...

Thanks for the link. I talked with them and it looks like it would be around $400 for the Analog to Digital converter and then $200 for their product. Then whatever program you would use to interface.... so, yes, it is a bit pricey when I could buy a handheld digital mixing system for around $400.

Any other ideas for getting sound in?

Erik

The Sound chip on the axim has a 48KHz 16bit input, however whether dell connected it to anyway is another question, i'd assume something that useful would be on the rather large connector on the bottom...
Unfortuantly, i dont know for sure I hope somebody will publish a full pinout of the connector
Is that a PC in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

Thats not a full pinout though, its just serial and stuff, theres bound to be more on that connector due to the large amount of pins
