DVD to PPC
Just purchased this software and it is really easy to use. Anyone know what setting to change so that the movie can use the whole screen of the ipaq? Right now it only shows a widescreen type setup with black bars on the top and bottom of the movie.

Sorry I can't answer your question, but maybe you can answer mine. I'm thinking of getting this app.
Can you tell me what kinda sizes are you getting for movie conversions? and how long do the conversions take? Ta

You can do this all manually, and for free - it takes much longer, but you have full control over what you are up to, and can learn a whole lot too!

Right now I have two movies that are about 220-230 MB each on a 512MB card. Really don't like the size of the video so far since it only shows on a small portion of the screen. Just need to figure that out....

.It is a great guide and definitely works, but I guess I'm just lazy. While you do have more control, it takes so long e.g. 3+hrs and you have to use 2-3 apps to make a decent conversion (I like using MPencoder, as it produces a smaller file size with reasonable quality). So you can't really just set it up and walk away. I was hoping that an all in one app that produced a pretty good picture/sound (doesn't have to be excellent, as I own the original - of course ) But I like to be able to place a couple of movies on my storage card and have room for my day to day apps.Off topic does anyone know a decent Ppc remote controller for a pc home entertainment system. I'm presently playing with Rudeo (Media Player only) and VNC (which is winning so far).

If the movie was originally in widescreen then that's gonna be the best way to watch it at. Even though you have those black bars on the top and bottom none of the original picture is being cut off. Look for an option in the program that says something like "Pan and Scan" or "4x3" or something.... It may allow you to rip it in a format other than widescreen but anytime you do that you're cutting off part of the picture.
When you watch the video on your pda are you watching it in landscape mode? Nick

You may also want to check out http://www.mdvd.ca/ for ripping DVDs for your PPC it comes with a 2 day try it all version, and is a alot cheaper than DVDtoPPC.
