Pocket DVD Studio Help!!
I have just bought pocket dvd studio and i can't get it to work properly.
I have installed the v1.0 XvID codec and the 2.0.5 version of pocket dvd studio. Everything loads correctly and it starts to encode, do i stop the process early to check the settings e.t.c are ok. But when i try to play the created file back in wmp (on my pc) or Beta Player on my h2210 it is very very jumpy, it jumps like ten or twenty seconds at a time, and there are random green frames interlace. I have left all the XvID settings at there default and the same for the Pocket DVD Studio settings. I have also tries changing the dvd settings and using Intervideo, Nvidia and Nero dvd audio/video decoders but to no avail. Please help as this is really frustrating and i have a very long train journey to go on tomorrow and was looking forward to watching some friends. Cheers Gareth ![]()

Hi Gareth - welcome to the site
What size file is a 22 minute episode? I would expect it to be around 40megs if the settings are set to a level that will produce okay results on your 2210.

Hi... it could be the version you are using... not many people have had any success with the newer versions... I suggest you download... v1.6..??? and try it... I found it to be the most stable version I have tried...

![]() Oh well i am happy now, cheers for the help, Rob1303, i had the quality set to finest and the episoded where coming out at around 60-80MB cause some are shorter than others, i always though espisodes of friends where the same length, obviously not.I do have to say though, this thing is bloody fast, even on my 1G P3 laptop it kocks out an episode of friends in about 40 mins, that is WAY faster than anything else i have tried, i wonder how they do it? Not to worry... think of it this way... it would not matter which version you wanted you would still have to pay for it. And if they ever get a new version out that works better... I am sure that you will be entitled to it.
But for now... you up and running... and that is what it is all about anyway. RIGHT...???

I also just bought Pocket DVD-Studio 2.0 and every time I try to run the program it says a component is missing, please reinstall. I can run 1.2.6 fine, but 2.0 doesn't work. How can you have a software release that doesn't work?

I have sent 5 e-mails to their support and no response for over a month, I can't get the newer version to work either. 1.2.6 works fine. It's unfortunate that their support is so crappy since I really do like the product when it works.

another success for 1.2.6
downloaded 1.2.6 this afternoon..popped in Hellboy (dont ask why, just the first/closest DVD to me at the time).
Ran 1.2.6 with no problems, 2 hours later I had a 476megabyte file. Tried to drag and drop via ActiveSync. Was told that i couldnt do that type of file. Popped in the card reader into a USB spot, then dragged and dropped. 6 minutes later the file was onboard an SD card. Popped in the SD card into the 4700 and moments later thanks to an AWESOME Beta Player was watching my first DVD on PDA and it was incredible to actually have a movie in the palm of my hand... Yes I own Hellboy and yes I did buy the 2.0 Pocket DVD Studio and i too wonder why you would sell a product that obviously does not work???? But 1.2.6 works and i can now occupy my time when i want....soon to order a 2.0GB SD so i can theoretically have 3 movies or a lot of the LOTRs! All the above is possible because of this site and fellows like Rob, I am indebted.

Gazzer82,
Glad you got it to work!! I too convert a lot of "Friends" episode. Each episode i set between 45-55mb output- which is quite decent quality when it is viewed on my 2215 via BetaPlayer. Output settings at 320x240 resolution, CD Quality/128kbit bitrate audio. I also finally got my AIW9600 to work in my PC, and will soon start recording TV shows and convert it to AVI file that would play in my PPC!! Its a great way to spend time away from work during lunchhour- sitting in my car enjoying full stereo sound of either sitcom episode or a movie playing through a casset adapter in my car--awesome sound!!! I recently converted Bourne Supremacy and I, Robot. E

You shoud really consider using the DVD to PDA tutorial, since I did, and so far on a 1gb SD card I have 4 fully functional movies, great quality + great sound...no problems... and believe me I have room for at least 2-3 more movies, guaranteed. Also I didn't need to spend any money on any programs for the job... You say you got Hellboy down to 476mb... I'm sure you can easily chop that size in half...
