Streaming mp3's from a laptop

I posted this on Aximsite and it went nowhere. My user name should be "thread killer" since after I post that's usually the end of interest in any thread. Hopefully someone here can help me. I've searched here a bit for my specific problem but had no success in finding an answer. Maybe it's unique to my setup but I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I can navigate to the mp3 directory on my laptop using my PPC (Axim X5), but when I click on the title I get the message "Cannot find 'track title' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and all the required libraries are available." When I do the same thing with my X30 Windows Media Player plays the track with no trouble. Since I'm using the X5 just as a music player this is really frustrating. Otherwise I'll have to load whatever I want onto a memory card.

Thanks for any help.

I'm sorry to hear that! Hopefully my post will bring this thread back to life!

Anyway, I would like to see the ability to stream files over Infrared!

What are you using to connect the two devices? Are you using wifi?

What software are you using on your device? Betaplayer should be able to access the files itself.

Can you access other files from your x5?

If not - check your wifi settings.

Ahha! Two posts! At least now I know my posts are actually getting published.

Robb, I am using wifi to connect and have never tried to stream via infrared. I have synched with infrared and only today got bluetooth working. Believe me, I wish I could help but based on the fact that I've heard from two Ipaq'ers I imagine you'll get some good information here.

Rob, I'm using MS Media Player. That's what I use to play from the SD card. I can stream radio from shoutcast using GSPlayer too. That's why it's so frustrating that I can see the files on the other computers (actually two of them) but both come back with the same message about not finding the file and/or libraries. I'll bet it's something I've just tweaked the wrong way but at the same time it doesn't work. I'm trying to impress my wife with all the stuff the handheld will do and so far I have made an impression, though not a particularly good one.

Thanks again for the responses.

Kevin

Have you looked at the settlings in Ike's wifi guide?

There is a link to the guide in my MyPDA on the left.

Thanks Rob, I'll check Ike's tutorial again.

Benn, sorry I called you Robb before. Good luck with the infrared streaming.
