Radio Stations
Is there a site out there similar to mine that is specifically for streaming radio stations? If there isn't, would that be something you guys would be interested in? I basically already have the databases setup and the page designs already made, so it wouldn't be too hard to modify to fit radio stations.
If I put this together, what should it be called?? What would be a cool domain name that would be easily remembered and not too hard to type out on a PPC??
I don't plan on charging for anything except maybe advertising, and the person with the best name can advertise for free.
Questions, comments, concerns?

lol...I wouldn't be doing any of the hosting, so hopefully the RIAA wouldn't come after me....but then again no telling. Basically I'm just wanting to make a PPC sized version of a Radio Station guide.

That's good. I hadn't thought of that one. Unfortunately that would probably show my Axim biasness (if that's even a word) more so than I already do (for example the Axim behind the film strip in my logo)....lol.
But so far I like it.

Thinking of it. I used to play around with my Icom PCR-1000 on the internet and there were some sites that did radio streaming. I don't see if it would be any different. It would just be a different source. Albeit the PCR-1000 was controllable remotely which made it optimal for long distance listening. :)
My buddy told me that he also uses his handheld to talk around the globe. What this entails is a network of HAM radio operators and using the internet to stream the conversation vs using moon-bounce or atmospheric propogation phenomenon.

There are tons of radio stations out there doing radio streaming, I've just not found any station guides that are formatted to a PPC sized screen.
Not sure where you are going with the ham radio comment, suggesting that I should include it also?

No, just wondering if you are going to have a single set radio station vs a controllable one.
I thought you wanted a radio streaming setup vs a radio guide.

oh, sorry. No, I don't want to do the actual streaming....I'm sure that I'd have the RIAA on my butt then. I'm just wanting to throw together a little guide similar to the PPC version of my site. I wouldn't even mess with a desktop version, I learned that the hard way with ppcvidz.

I dont know exactly how people stream their music through shoutcast.com, but couldnt you just make a guide and put links to the url's of say the top listen sites, Be it (ROCK), country, jazz or whatever and link to their addresses. They pretty well stay the same and if not they have multi. addresses in case their server is full. I think that is how it is done, not sure.. Like what I do now is go to shoutcast with pIE and with lots and lots of scrolling, find the station I want and stream it through GSplayer. It would be real nice to have a ppc friendly Radio web guide----such as AXIMRADIO :D :D :D

sorry for the delay guys, just got back from the honeymoon. I'll register the name and get started on the database tonight. Hopefully it will be online in a couple of days. The only drawback is that you guys have to help me with the design if you don't like it and any other suggestions that you might have. Deal?

Aximradio.com has been registered and will hopefully be online by tomorrow. I need you guys to tell me what you would like the colors to be and what content you would like available (real player streams, wmp streams, winamp streams).

But no seriously, I would like to see either winamp,or wmp streams. Im not much on Real. Also Im more of a Classic Rock type, but I like all music. Well as long as you can understand what they are saying that is. I cant write much now, just got off grave yard shift. But I will help you any way I can, O and Congrats on your Marriage-------May GOD be with you,:D
