beta player in landscape mode!

Hi,

I have just installed betaplayer as a lot of people seem to say its great.

The thing is it doesn't seem to like playing movies in landscape mode! Which should be the whole point, surly.

This seems to be the best way to watch a movie. Full screen landscape. But when i have my HX4700 in landscape mode, then play a movie in betaplayer and click the 'full screen' button it just flips to portrait mode and i have to watch the film as a little box in the middle!!

The only way i can play a film in landscape is with all the betaplayer buttons etc still on the screen (ie not full screen).

Am i doing something wrong?

Don't put your ipaq into landscape mode first. Have it in portrait and then use Betaplayer to change the orientation, as it also removes its' controls when it does this - it will work fine.

Ok, I cant see how to get beta player to change the orientation!!
Under options/orientation it has; fullscreen (which is grayed out), normal (which is ticked), left handed, right handed and upside down.

None of these seem to really do anything.

What i want to do is play my avi full screen in landscape mode.

Could it be the way i encoded the avi?

That is what i've been doing and it dosn't switch to landscape mode!!

It just plays the film in the middle of the screen in portrait mode but with out any of the controls showing.

Could it be i've encoded the file to the wrong size?

But you do that when your ipaq is already in landscape mode don't you?

Put your iPaq in portrait mode, open Betaplayer, start the film and then click the button.

What happens.

Did you try to encode the movie in Landscape mode in the first place? if so then change that setting to portriat mode and reencode the movie.

the encoding shouldn't matter...it will auto turn anyways...try these settings...

Options>settings>Select Page (at bottom) >Player.

Check:
auto pre-rotate
play music
keep playlist

then...
Options>Video and check smooth zoom (only 50%)
Options> Pixel aspect select square

Then at last...the one that will work...
Options>Zoom and check Fit screen

tried all that. Still doesn't flip to landscape. All that happens when I press the little square with the 2 arrows is the movie is displayed without all the betaplayer stuff showing.

If i set the pda to landscape betaplayer plays the movie with the betaplayer stuff showing, then i click the little square with the arrows and it flips to portrait.

All i can think is that the divx file is wrong. It looks ok though. And as Driftless says, the encoding shouldn't matter.

Any more suggestions?

This is very odd.

One more thing for that problem....

Options> Orientation>Right-handed

That should fix it.
