Middle Button control of Windows Media Mobile (series 9)

Hi all - excellent forum - i've already learnt a great deal.

I use my IPAQ as an MP3 player for short period in the mornings travelling to work and back and have a 1GB SD card for this use.

I'd like to know if there's any software that can be used to control playback, pause, skip, etc functions from the middle button (ie centre button with directional toggle around it) so that i dont need to get the stylus out of the IPAQ each time i feel like changing tracks...?

Thanks very much for a great forum.

NEarly all media players allow you to do this.

If you go into the settings in WMP9 you will see a page that allows button mapping. You can then just map the function you want to the button you want.

BTW - welcome to the site

Rob - thanks very much. Feeling ever so slightly stupid for not figuring that out. Thanks for the help.

Another (potentially) silly question. Is there anything either on the IPAQ or downloadable that i can use to act as a touch-guard for the IPAQ screen while it's in my pocket? IE something that will stop random touches from opening or closing programs or apps?

Thanks very much, Rich! Once again, feeling a little silly for not figuring that out (esp with Rob's earlier advice) but some aspects of the ipaq not overly user-friendly.

Thanks!

Tell me about it, probably the most useful thing that Win Media Player does over alll the 3rd party players is toggle the screen, really save on batteries. I use it when using my BT headphone (cos you can pause, skip and adjust vol with the headphones) i think maybe the sreen turned off and blue tooth turned on uses around about the same power as no BT and screen on!
Thanks

Rich

I actually don't know of a media player that doesn't let you turn the screen off - I thought they all did

I know for a fact that Betaplayer, GSPlayer, MortPlayer, PocketMusic all allow you to turn the screen off - which media players do you know don't let you do this?

Well rob, I would like to blow you away with a long and exhaustive list, but erm, you are right. They all do! I just hadn't realised. This introduces the big question of what the others players offer which media player does not. Apaert from a wider range of file types recognised.
Thanks

Rich
