On advice, I'm starting a new thread on this wierd vdub error. When opening the video menu and selecting compression, I get the following fatal error message:
An out-of-bounds memory access (access violation) occurred in module 'ole32'. Vdub and my codecs are all latest version and I've been able to install and run Dr. Divx. I'm on a P4 1.7GHz with plenty of RAM and WinXP (also up to date). Any idea whazup? I'd like a free alternative to Dr. Divx if possible (although Dr. Divx took Blade II down to 150mb which is pretty good if you ask me).

I've just tried to install and run DVDx and get a similar error. When selecting the "output" menu the program crashes with an error in OLE32.dll
Any clues what this could be (and why something like Dr.Divx WOULDN'T crash given performance of the same sort of function)?
