Hi, I was wondering about this also after my bf recently got a Nano and ripped all our music to iTunes (I have the hx4700). I found there is a program called ppcTunes available that is supposed to sync iTunes with your PPC. You have to buy it though, less than $10 (US) so not so expensive.
I haven't got around to trying it out though - anyone else using ppcTunes have a verdict on it?

According to the web site it is "the first ever tool to copy and convert MP3 (non-copy-protected) music from Apple's iTunes to Windows Mobile devices of all kinds."
So it won't work with DRM encoded MP3 files and there is no mention of what it will do with AAC files of the type that you purchase from Apple. I don't think that Apple has licensed the DRM technology to anyone so the only players that will play these files are the IPODs.

1. Use jHymn (http://hymn-project.org/) to strip the DRM from the AAC files.
2. Get TCPMP (http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about) 3. Get the TCPMP AAC plugin (http://www.rarewares.org/files/aac/t...obile.0.66.zip). Now you can just copy the de-DRM:ed files to a card or something. If you are on a mac I can recommend SyncTunes which copies files to SD card and generates playlists at the same time.

Thanks for the info Bob and Zyxel. The iTunes website has apparently just started here in Australia, so we can buy music online - we were just speculating there must be some way around the encoding problem.

You can also burn a music CD and rip the MP3 off it. This strips the copy protection.
Zyxel, Is this a graphical interface for Windows? I saw some hint that it is but the documentation clearly states a commond line interface.

Another suggestion I would make, if you have a wireless network at home that is on the same subnet as your PC, is WiFiTunes. It doesn't have AAC support yet, but it will play all of the MP3s in your iTunes library.
And I second the recommendation of JHymn, though it doesn't work with iTunes 6 yet. Just convert all of your files to un-drm'd mp3s. Then not only can you stream them through WiFiTunes, but you can copy them to other mp3 devices and do anything else you'd like. (Viva la fair use!)

i can't get WiFiTunes to work with iTunes 6. I know i have sharing configured right because I share between our desktop and my laptop just fine. Does anybody know if it is possible that iTunes 6 broke sharing with WiFiTunes?

A few questions: Are you using iTunes on Windows or Mac? Do you have a password set on the library? WiFiTunes doesn't work with password-protected libraries. Are you trying to play MP3s, or an AAC file? WiFiTunes doesn't support AAC playback (yet). Also--WiFiTunes only works with Bonjour. So if your palmtop and PC are on different subnets, it's not going to work.

Pocketmind Pocketmusic claims to have an AAC decoder. There is also a plug-in for TCPMP.
I don't know whether or not they will handle DRM encoded AAC files.
