Hmm New Dell Axim - Divx 5.05 problem

I have done my best to read current posts, however I still have problems:

Pocket PC 4.20.1081 Build 13100
Intel PXA255
(Pocket PC 2003 Prem.)

I have several AVIs encoded with Divx 5.05 and first tried Pocket Divx/ Pocket MVP to play the file. I kept getting incompatiable file format or audio error. Problems also ranged from these errors to total lockup.

Next I tried the VirtualDub Tutorial posted here, and also reencoded to Divx 3 and 4 and still the same problem.

I used:
Pocket MVP for 2003 availible at
http://www.wincesoft.de/html/pocket_divx.html

Should I keep working the tutorial on reencoding, am I not understanding a key step, or making a common mistake?

Any help or clarity is apperciated.

Well I must not be encoding correctly with VDub as I used Microsoft Movie Maker to generate a wmv file that plays with windows media player 9. Seems to play well and easy to do. I got the idea from
