Pocket DVD Studio - NO support - now what?
Hello all,

I've been a registered user of the above since 2.0 and their CS is lousy, actually non-existant. I had to replace my mobo and reinstall the app and now my registration key will not activate, regardless of how many versions I try installing. I've emailed twice with no repsonse -- a total waste of $32!

What is an alternative to convert, select my own file size, resolution and ratio? I've got DVD Decrypter...

Many thanks!

I also have Pocket DVD Studio, but I very much prefer FREEWARE fairuse. I actually only paid $10 for Pocket DVD Studio on eBay. I also had a registration problem when I replaced my harddrive and reinstalled it, but the eBay vendor sent me a new reg code and it worked.

Thank you, sebring.

What a chump I was! I've emailed Handango with my complaint, and we'll see what they do, if anything.

In the meantime, I looked at the freeware version of Fairuse but it is limited to a 700mb. I like to go up to around 960 at 640x480.

How does it compare in options/capabilities to PD Studio?

Thanks...

I never could get fairuse to work...so after some research here's what I use. It will give you the quality options you want. 2 steps-
1-use decrypter in inf mode. 2. get/install autogordianknot (search google). Tons of options, free, and slick...

I went from Pocket DVD Studio to FairUse as well, only using the free version though. But, I won't go back. I've had problems with ripping and quality when using PDS, where as I've only had a few with FairUse, and that was because it was my fault, not quirky software.

IMHO, FairUse would be a worthwhile investment.

The paid version of fairuse is only 10 euros, about $12-13. The only difference I've found is it removes the 700mb file size limit, but for use with a PDA with it's limited storage, I find that a file size of about 100mb/half hour yields very good results on my X50V. That file size also is very acceptable on my 15.4" laptop screen. For sound, I use 96kb/sec bit rate and Ogg.
