LOL .. well if you woudn't mind enabling the frame counter in pocketmvp and watching a few mins just to see.. i'm curious.. if you're getting about 1/2 your frames dropped you might as well encode every other frame as you won't see a difference but the encoding process will be faster and the filesize will be smaller (since 1/2 as many frames)

wow that's impressive! any other techniques you did with encoding? i'm assuming you just used a resize filter to get it to 320x240, then a rotation filter. as for audio you just used the fraunhoffer mp3 codec to encode at 22khz 56kbit stereo mp3.
I'll have to do some experimenting tonight to do some full screen encodes. I'd be curious to see how it performs with some non-cartoon fast paced video (as alot of the cartoon frames don't differ on a frame by frame basis since most of the background stays static while something in the foreground is animated)
In terms of your axim, is it a 300 or 400 pxa250 or a 255? do you have it overclocked at all?

I had encoded Airheads two days ago, and watched about half of it with every other frame processed, it was watchable with more framedrops, however the overall re-encoding was totally different, with many other steps involved and different bps.
Good Luck~! I hope I can get back to the same settings and use them for my all other re-encodes. Also, I have a question, will DivX settings under v.dub be saved when the settings are saved under vdub settings file? Like 1pass, bit/sec, etc ??
All we can do is just trial and encode ;) after all not one movie will have the same outcome as the other, but for cartoons, i don't think i'll go wrong with current config. And as far as I know, cartoons are mostly 15fps, unlike 29fps on TV and ~24 on dvd..

There was one little utility I used to use to calculate bitrates, find out even the tiniest little detail about a video clip such as the codec used, fps, audio / video data rates, compression, and everything else you can both think and not think of.. Any idea what it was?
