As far as I know, there are no PocketPC MP3Pro players.

I've encoded songs into mp3pro with Cool Edit Pro and they have played fine on my Axim's WMP.

But only at 64bit. MP3Pro is backward compatible, but only at the lower bit rate. Technically, MP3Pro is backward-compatible with existing MP3 player software. If a player isn't MP3Pro-compatible, it will ignore the SBR coding in MP3Pro data, resulting in flat-sounding audio, because it cannot read the high-frequency data.

So I guess the answer is that there are tons of MP3 player that can decode MP3Pro, but the music will always sound "flat". There are no MP3Pro players as others have said.

James

I see.. That said, I need to encode them back into regular mp3 via nero or some other s/w. Probably just not use them at all.

Thanks !

I think there might be some players out that support OOG, but I am not sure which ones. OOG will still retain the smaller file size than MP3, and in my opinion sound a little better than MP3Pro.

Which mp3 or audio ONLY music player do you suggest? I think players focused on single media types are usually more successful.

Thanks.

I personally like Conduits Player. I think it does the best and I'm glad to support a company like Conduits which does great work on all their products.

They want $20 for that s/w. It maybe worth it but I still think a lot of PPC softwares are overpriced. I mean $20 just for an image viewer or a basic player? Why is that? Is it that complicated to get those s/w written and compiled?

Well WMP will play MP3s and its free. Download the player though and you might change your mind. Its well worth it IMO. IMO a good PPC program is much harder to program than a good windows program. The GUI is much harder to get correct.

Exactly....even just a very, very simple program can be tedious to code for a PPC. Mainly because you have a lot less screen space, and have to come up with innovative ideas to keep it feature-rich, but still easy to use on the small screen.

I can't even imagine the time involved to write an app like an MP3 player for PPC.

Yeah, that's right. I agree with the coding difficulty, but I mean in any case there should be some better-than-wmp mp3 players. Who uses WMP on desktop for mp3s, when you can use winamp...
right?
