really? I seek all the time (and use the goto feature as well if i stop watching a movie and start it up say the next night to continue). it's been ok for me. nothing special here.. just latest pocketmvp with ppc2002. vids all play off of CF or SD cards
We have no other choice, but to stick with Pocket MVP for now. I find MS WMP to be much better and sturdy acting than MVP. I would never have thought that i'd choose WMP over others, especially for audio files. MVP is terrible with audio, in my opinion. When you seek, it'd pause give a brief mute, as in all other audio players I have tried, same thing when adjusting volume, the brief mute.. Well, until DivX comes with a way for a plug-in for Pocket WMP, to hell with MVP, but us along with it.. ;)
Good Luck

Astounded EEG: That's not a 'why' question. It just is.
No one else is making a divx AVI player for the pocket pc because:
1. C coding for a divx compatable driver is a very compley process.
2. He has already made it, and is debugging it regularly again.
The above is not ment to come off as sarcasm, it's just the way it is. No one really has an interedst in spending thier time attempting to compete with a working (even if buggy) FREE product. They would lose.
Why not DivX itself create a player, at least just for their own codec, for PPC.......

Who's to say that it would be any better, just because it's "officially from DivX" ??? After all, just take a look at the steaming crap pile that is RealOne Mobile...
Without the CODEC everyplayer is useless. And, in order to watch Divx encoded movie/video clips, you need their codec. And if they come out with a plug-in for WMP, all worries will be gone.

Actually, no. Your problems would not be gone. The divx plugin for windows has a tendency to playback poorly when used with media player in just about every version of windows there is. Past experience directs me to belive that it would probably be the same with pocket media player...
The MVP software have the divx playback "built in", allowing better speed in the playback.
I never used anything besides MPLAYER2 (the older version of windows media player) for divx movies. It works PERFECTLY fine with all codecs..
I will not go into debate on how bad/good divx's can/can't be on Axims.. Just we'll have to be happy with what we have, unless we can do better.. That's all I can say. If DivX comes out with a codec, I am getting it..
Good Luck

DivX has come out with a codec, what do you think we're encoding and viewing with?
DivX does not, and likely will not (at least in the near future) produce a player for any mobile platforms, is what you're getting at. And if they did, again, no one can say how good it would be. You yourself admit that you don't use the DivX player, you use an old WMP. An official mobile DivX player would have to go through the same development cycle that every other piece of software does. PocketMVP is no different; it is still in beta.
As for a DivX plugin for Pocket WMP - that's all fine and good if someone were to do it (assuming Pocket WMP was even designed to handle plugins), but I suspect it would only benefit WM2003 users. The multitudes with PPC2002 or less... well, we all know WMP for those platforms is less than stellar and quite inefficient... I'd hate to see how it performed with the added overhead of DivX decompression.

Damn I hate saying this. But I try to be an honest person. And that means being willing to admit it when I'm wrong.
After downloading the latest version of Dr Divx, I now have no problem at all making videos that play perfectly on PocketMVP, and that maintain sync even when scrolling in time. And that includes the default (very conservative) prorile for Pocket PC, as well as profiles I've created myself.
I don't know why Divx files I created with VirtualDub, TMPGenc, and other applications didn't work. But results were exactly as I described in previous posts. However, with Dr Divx, everything is cool! So I'll be using Dr Divx A LOT in the future.
Having said that, frame rates are still pretty damn good with Windows Media Player 9 (in WM 2003), especially when automatically scaling 320x240 size 29.97 frame per second video (with stereo audio!) down an appropriate size for PPC viewing. Of course if you try to watch such videos fullscreen, frames are dropped everywhere, and sync goes out the window.
