program with best audio quality?

i find that tcpmp, wmp, pocket player all aren't as good as an ipod in terms of sound quality.
i heard about 40iplay but it is difficult to find a download. same for winvibes.

does anyone have any recomendations for a program with very good sound quality? btw, i dont want to have a program with the most equlizer options, just good sound quality.

appreciate any feedback. (dont mean audio feedback!)

you are working on the assumption that audio quality is primarily dependant on the software player and not the hardware.

yes thats true.

but i find that pocket player is better than tcpmp anyway, so i was wondering if there is a program better than pocket player. in terms of audio quality.
i have an ipod but want to sell it and only use my axim. but the ipod sounds very good.

Doesnt the quality (kb/s) of the audio file have more to do with its quality than the player. The player is only going to help with eq functions. I think the axim has great sound quality for mp3s and x50mix helps to do more eq functions.

i tried listening to a song (No Quarter- Tool) i was using for testing purposes using pocket player and ipod earphones. i also increased the bass on x50mix a little.
it sounded very good, like the ipod. so i suppose it was the earphones i was using that weren't very good. i thought they were since i paid €35 for them (sony ones).

oh well i guess that solves my "problem".

thanks for all the input.
