can't figgure out wmp
I have an axim x51v and am having one heck of a hard time trying to figgure out how to get music to my library for instance. I copyed to albums to my sd card with a card reader. I have played a couple of songs but only by chance. I have read every file in the help area. All the help area seems to tell me everything that my axim can do but not how to do it. Is there somewhere that will tell me how to run wmp? Thanks

You need to Opem WMP and click on Menu > Library > Search and follow the prompts. This will establish your libraries. It used to be a lot easier.

on mine you just have to go into the menu within the library and click update library, it will search your entire device (including all active storage cards) it can take a while depending on how much music, just watch to make sure that the device doesnt turn itself off (only if you have that feature on, to turn off after a certain time without using it)
that should do it | |||

You had to switch the library to SD card right? Back before WM2003 all you had to do was insert a storage card and WMP saw everything automatically. Why they changed that I'm not sure but I liked the old way a lot better.
There's a cool app you can load that will take some of that hassle out: Jon Misurda's Playlist Editor. I'll be back with a link later tonight or you can do a search in our multimedia forums and find it yourself sooner. Enjoy your new PMP. ![]()

Ok what is PMP? Thanks for the info on the playlist editor. Is it a free program? I also want to use TCMPMP again. I had it on my ppc before and it was free. Do you know if now you have to pay for it? And if I pay for a program and I decide to do a hard reset, how do I keep my program? Thanks

I don't switch the library to SD card on my WM5.0 devices. All I ever do is tap Menu > Update Library and the pocket pc searches for music loaded on all installed memory on the pocket pc (main memory & installed storage cards).

A PMP is what they call stand-alone MP3 or music players. TCPMP is still free and it's better than ever now. You can stream movies from Google Video with the .flv plugin.
Playlist Editor is free and available here.

In trying to learn the best way play my music, I did a hard reset to start over. This time I just went to file explorer, tap the down arrow, chose sd card-then tapped the song that I wanted to play. It would seem that this way I am keeping my main memory free. What is the benifits of loading all my songs in my library?

Updating the library does not move any files into main memory. It simply finds and indexes all the media files that are located on the pocket pc. Once to you do that you can plan songs in sequential order and don't have to keep tapping a song to play it.

TCPMP is free but the commercial version of it (Coreplayer) is not. Here's a good link to TCPMP:

I really appreciate your patients on this. I went to that link and it said that the open source was discontinued-use core instead, which I thought that you had to pay for. When you said that it was still free, I had to figgure out which file to download. I had read that the cab files were the easiest to work with (install). So I deduced that I needed the one for a pocket pc. I downloaded tcpmp.pocketpc.0.72rc1 to my download files. BTW I am using Vista on my laptop, and my ppc is sync'd to my laptop. 2nd problem- I double click "tcpmp.pocketpc.0.rc1" and when it opens I cannot figgure which file is the exe. I chose one of the setup files then wants to know which destination? I'll stop here- am I on the right track or clear out in left field?
I just had to have Vista Ha Ha!
