Video Out on Mobile Devices
I have been trying to better understand "Video Out" on windows mobile devices with little success. I have recently swapped from an Axim that had video out capabilities to a AT&T Tilt which does not. What I want to know is what makes "Video Out" available to a device? Is it special pin outs and Hardware, or can it be achieved through software and a mini-usb. I guess that should be my first stop is trying to figure out the pin out arrangement on my Tilt. But it just seems that Video Out should be more standandard that it is. Basically, all you would need is some cloning software and a way to get it out of the device.

In any case, I thought this might be a good topic for discussion since multiple searches were not turning up very good information.

I believe it has to do with the video hardware in the device. Just like some video cards on pcs can support mulitple monitors or svideo outputs, etc it depends on what video hardware a ppc has too. Look at laptops and pcs with special svideo outputs, and its usually in the video cards driver/software the program to switch displays.

The axim x50v and x51v have the vga video ability which gives them the ability to have a higher resolution display (the vga capable screen helps too), and the ability for vga out.

And since the average user cant just pop in a new video card, like u can on a pc, it leaves them to upgrading to a device with vga out.

It would be nice for ppc manufacturers to make video output more standard with s video outputs on devices. This would make them ideal for portable video players.

Remote display programs are basically getting like a refreshed screenshot of whats happening on the device is how i understand it. Thats why there is lag sometimes.

That isnt really the topic of this thread.

But ill still answer it since im that nice. LOL
Youll need tcpmp and the flv plugin. Obtain them both here while on the mobile device in pocket ie: http://www.mobytube.net/default2.aspx

Then go to www.mobytube.com Coming Soon! on ur mobile device and use the search to find and play videos.
