Can stream live video from IIS to PPC?

I have an XP Pro system running an IIS server and would like to build an .asp or .aspx web page that shows a live video feed from my Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 or a video board. I thought software was included with the Logitech that would allow me to do that and I suspect it is there as there were several ActiveX Controls installed but there was no documentation. Hell there was not even any doc on installing the camera or software in the package except a brain dead book that said to install the software and then hook up the camera but gave zero directions on how to do either.

Is there some sort of freeware or inexpensive ActiveX object that I can automate on a web page that will allow me to see live video from my USB camera from the desktop IE and pocket IE browsers? Or even better yet also supported a Hauppauge WinTV-GO TV Tuner Board that had other camera feeds modulated onto it. I cannot afford to run Microsoft Streaming Video server so want something likewebcam32 but it needs a JVM in the browser which I think pIE does not have.

I plan use a Dell Axim Pocket PC with 802.11b wireless and IE5 and WMP9 to browse this web page and see my live camera feeds. Is streaming the audio also hoping for too much?

Thanks,
Dave

I believe that you can stream via windows media encoder. I don't mess with this since I actually have a media streaming server, but I have seen alot of discussions about this.

Basically what you would do is setup media encoder to broadcast and then in your web pages put a link to the IP of your Media Encoder server followed by the port that you specify in media encoder(mms://123.456.789.000:8000). You'll want to specify a port as your webserver will be listening on port 80.

Hopefully this answered your questions and hopefully I didn't give any wrong info. If I did, I'm sure that I'll be corrected...lol

Excellent. I will look into downloading and setting up WME. Fortunately a lot of MSFT folks like to play with this stuff as well so they do offer some cool stuff for free or as part of XP. Out of curiosity what does the streaming media server cost? We run it at work but probably way too costly for home use. Thanks again, Dave

BUt I explicitly said I do not want to run WIndows Server 2003 and need to do this from a Windows XP Pro Desktop. Fortunately WME runs there. Dave
