CorePlayer has better h.264 support than TCPMP does - I've run both the FFMPEG and early test CoreCodec plugin for h.264 and compared it to even older versions (1.1.1) of CorePlayer... and their h.264 wins over TCPMP. 1.2.0 and 1.2.1 beat older versions of CorePlayer by a fairly significant margin (about 10fps better, from what I could tell in benchmarks) over these older versions. Combine this with the ability to use h.264 from YouTube, and you've got a fairly good contender with regards to YouTube Mobile playing.
Besides, I don't need TCPMP to watch FLV videos on YouTube - Opera 8.65 does it too.. albeit rather slowly, and I don't need to download the FLV file to my Axim or convert it. Merely thought that a word about the successor player for TCPMP being able to do YouTube (and with official support, to boot) would have been welcome. Especially since you were the one who mentioned such support being announced in 1.2.0
