Question dat. (VCD) to avi. converter

HI guys

I do a lot of travelling and I want to throw some of my favorite VCD titles in the Axim. However, all I can find is DVD converters -- where are all the VCD to avi coverters! (Not everyone has DVD-ROM you know!)

Please suggest some to me.

Thank for your help in advance.

Cheers
Victor

Aren't VCD files in MPEG2 format? Try renaming a chapter to an MPG and see if WMP will open it.

Most 'converters' simply write uncompressed AVI -- that's why the files are so much bigger. Once you have those, then you can use VirtualDub to make a compressed one in your favorite AVI codec.

Thanks Talyn

I have downloaded VirtualDub1.5.4

Could you kindly tell me the basics like which codec should I chose and what buttons to press to start the compression please?
