First thread/post in a good while for me. Good to be back. :)

Here's the scoop:
-using DVD Shrink and Movavi (got a free license for it from my father-in-law who uses this program to put movies on his iphone-- to be clear: I HAVE A LEGAL LICENSE FOR THIS PROGRAM [wanted to make that clear for everyone. I don't pirate software]) to encode movies into 320x240.
-movies get compressed down pretty well (The Last Samurai gets down to 225 mb!)
-sound is VERY low w/ Axim volume all the way up
-playing movies in TCPMP (movie is saved as a .wmv)
-quality of the movie is OK, but many green vertical lines run across the screen in most of the scenes. the movie works PERFECTLY in my DVD players, though.

Also, I got started using Movavi because my father-in-law showed me how he put a few movies on his iphone and they came out to just under 1 gb. He showed me the quality, and it was top-notch. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong with the settings or encoding.
Anyone have ANY ideas how I can get this (and other movies!) to work properly on my Axim? Should I re-encode it to another format? Should I just give up? HELP!

WMV is a horrible format... try an avi.

I second that. And i use tcpmp to view all of my movies.

Quick update: I re-encoded the move into an mpeg and quality is still very poor. I"m going to try again to encode and see if it will let me do avi. I'll keep the thread updated as I can. Thanks.

I use DVD Shrink also and us Pocket dVix encoder (a freeware program) to encode the DVD. I format in .AVI 320 x 240, for PDA, works great on my axim x5. I use it for Friday Night Light and got it down to 186 MB. Hope it helps

I set Movavi to re-encode in a custom format (320x240 AVI), and it should be done about now. I'll check when I get home tonight and let everyone know how it went.
