tidal - my specific bookmark to nicky's is to the vdud filters page. I was just so impressed/overwhelmed with info that this is the page was the one that ended up in my list. I can't point to any PPC specific page at Nicky's, but the =general= vdub info is insightful.

Today I was thinking back and recalled several of my early attempts resulted in locking up my Axim, requiring a hard reset. I soon realized I was screwing up the "2-pass" process by not specifying which "pass" before encoding or not switching the setting correctly. I assume you were more careful than I in this area.

(I once beat my head against the wall for hours trying to get a broken web link to work on a page, only to finally realize a missing tilde (~) was the culprit...)

the movie will just freeze periodically
GonZo28 - Try setting the cache a bit higher in PocketMVP (File - Settings - Configure)
I've noticed starts and stops when this setting was low. Also close out any unneeded programs before playing movie. More free space can't hurt.

HTH,
Jeff

ok, cache is set as high as i could get it, closed programs and still the movies freeze often....often enough to not be able to watch it. now, is this a problem with microdrives or the axim. i can return the microdrive i just purchased and get a 1 gb compact flash for 20 bucks more. will movies play better with a standard compact flash card? another thing i was wondering was that i converted this dvd to avi using the highest quality settings, used divx 5 codec, mono for sound. is there anything i should do different?, mayble lesser quality would play better. my big concern right now is wondering if i should send back the microdrive, and if there is a big performance difference in a standard compact flash card as compared to a microdrive.

tidal - good luck with Divx 5.0.3. I like it.

GonZo28 - your encoding settings =may= be taxing the system. Have other video clips displayed the same problem? Suggest encoding at lower settings. Maybe try encoding some short trailers with various settings to see which works best for you.

I have no experience with the microdrive.

HTH,
Jeff
