If you are new to DVD encoding, as it seems you might be, there are many other programs which are much better now.
DVD Shrink
Pocket DivX Encoder
Beta Player
are all you need now. You simply rip the DVD files to you hard drive using DVD shrink, rename the largest .vob file to .mpg, and then run it through PocketDivXEncoder. You then use beta Player to view the file created by PocketDivXEncoder. It isn't hard at all, and you can get pretty good quality for with small size files too. To answer your question directly, your X30 may be able ot handle the increased bit rate, but it would also increase how much space you would need on a storage card. If you stick with the 3 programs listed above, you will have good quality films at a lower size. Finally, do a search on this kind of topic. I mean, we get multiple new threads on how to go from DVD to Pocket PC every day. Just do some research first, then ask if you can't find it. (Gosh, I'm turning into gsteinb88 aren't I?)

Yeah, Pocket DivX Encoder is a really great program! Can't believe it's free :)
With VirtualDub it took over 2 hours to convert a Simpsons-episode, now with Pocket DivX Encoder it takes only 6 minutes! That's what I call great program.

It depends on the conversion quality and size; in pocketdivxencoder, if you checked the "VHQ mode", "2-pass encoding" options, it will take a much longer time to encode (2 pass usually takes approximately double the time, and VHQ adds a little more, to compress the video better without having smears and tears around hgih-movement parts of a movie)

I use pocketdivxencoder if i want to rip clips, and virtualdub if i needed subtitles and higher quality.
