media player

My media player just stopped working. I start the program but nothing happens. This has happened before and the only solution was a hard reset and re-install.

It is not related to new software since it was working fine until just now and I haven't installed anything new.

any one have any suggestions before I do the evil hard reset?

Thanks.

Try runing \windows\welcome.exe and see if that helps. I use it when pIE flakes on me. Just a suggestion.

It happened to me when I installed the X-Ten SIP software. Just restored from backup.

I had a problem and found a post on this site about a registry edit that fixed it. I'll see if I can find it in the morning and post it here.

Hey, Rob:

It worked - I renamed the 40C5 key to 405C_. The rest of your reply was a bit more technical than I could follow, but IT WORKS!

Thanks.
