Audio but no video on Media player 8.5
I'm not totally sure this is the appropriate forum, but here goes...

I painstakingly downloaded a big WMV movie trailer to run
On my PPC2002 Axim X5.

It loads fine, and plays the audio, but there is no video!

Any suggestions?

The file works fine on my XP desktop (media player 9). One thing I did notice is that in the properties of the WMV, it says "Windows media video 9" for the video codecs. Of couse it also says that for the audo codec but the audio is fine. The media player on my Axim is 8.5.

I have tried all the various settings in the media player, such as shrink to fit, etc...

The .wmv file has been encoded for Windows media player 9. Your out of luck. I know this because I did the same thing when I made a slide presentation and tried to play it on my Ax. Either upgrade to wm2003 or find another trailer.

RATS!!!! That means I have to upgrad too. Oh well. Hey, quick question. Does anyone know what happened to the windows media mobile website? I actualy use that occasionaly and it has not been updated in like 3 months. I think it could be something to do with my Axim. Thanks!

Confirming Jer's solution. Media player 8.5 can't see videos that have been encoded with WM9.
