I use windows media encoder on my PC to stream a WiFi music signal that I pick up on the Axim. Download Windows Media Encoder from MS, and then start a session, and play some music. THen, on the Axim, start WMP and select Open URL and type in the URL given by Windows Media Encoder

GSPlayer does a great job on streaming MP3 (and Ogg, too, if you can find it.) The one to download is gsp186a_eng.zip. You also might want to download gsgetfile004.lzh.

There's no installation routine; just copy the appropriate files to a folder on your Axim and create a shortcut to the executable.

Lot's easier than the Windows Media Encoder approach.

What are you trying to connect to when you get these errors?

I'm trying to get on a (football) site that streams radio to which i pay a subscription. On my desktop i simply click on the link and windows media opens and all is well. When I try the same link wireless on my PDA I get the message 'your IE doesnt support Java' - sorry about the last post got it wrong. Also, presumably coz it is failing, I am getting a list of components needed to run this and Flash Multimedia isnt installed. Any help is appreciated as I say I pay a sub and although everything is ok on my desktop, it would be great to be able to listen to it elsewhere in the house. Hope this explains things a little better, but if you need any more info, please say. Thanks

Install Windows Media Encoder on the PC and use it to re-stream the audio to the PPC. Free download from Microsoft.

Thanx Howard2k - this does work however it seems to stream from the mic picking up sound from the speakers - is this how it works, its just that the resulting stream received on the Ax is of pretty poor quality. however it is better than nothing.

I'm not 100% sure on this but my guess is that it is because of your Recording Control Settings.

Go to Volume Vontrol, Options, Properties, Recording, Check Wave, OK.

Next make sure that on the check boxes on the bottom that Wave is the one selected, not the Microphone. This is now the selected audio recording device so any program that records will pick up wave audio, eg. Winamp playing, not the output from your microphone.

I hope this helps.
