Janine248 - Thanks so much for checking. I thought I had tried that the other day with no success...but, I just did it (given your instruction) and it worked perfectly.

Again, thanks.

Supporting any service that uses any kind of "secured" file will eventually lead to TCPA becoming a reality. Read more at www.againsttcpa.com I can put my MP3s download from good old Kazaa Lite on any device I want, anytime I want. I don't typically pay people to limit my choices.

Just out of curiosity, what is the itunes format? When I import an album through itunes, it gets an mp3 extension :crooked:

Rorschach -
When you import an album, or burn it - which is what I assume you are doing - you can choose which file format the songs are encoded (either MP3 or AAC).

If you purchase music from the iTunes Music Store, the songs are all in AAC format. This works great for playing the songs through the iTunes interface or playing on an iPod, but doesn't work if you use other players (to my knowledge).

Have u tried using an audio conversion tool (such as Advanced WMA) im not sure if it will let it go thru the conversion, i havent tried, but it completely rewrites the file so it probably wont have the protection on it anymore.

So far, all the legal music download sites use some kind of DRM. I want my files in MP3 format so I can play them with GSPlayer on my Axim and on my Tivo.

Unfortunately by the time you download, burn to CD, and convert back to MP3, you've wasted a lot of time and effort and you've lost quality in the conversions.

In addition, it's generally cheaper just to buy a CD if you're going to want more than a few songs from that CD. I think I'll be buying CDs until some better solution comes along. A CD provides best quality and it serves as a backup after you've ripped the music.

I agree with you, really. Unless it is only one song that I am after from an album, I'd rather have the CD. That said, DRM protected WMA files have worked fine for me as well.

I really don't like the WMP. Using playlists is really clumsy and I find that WMP doesn't stream very well. The WMA format sounds ok, but it's proprietary and doesn't play on Tivo or lots of other players.

I think that the problem is that we music lovers in general have shown a strong proclivity to giving away content that is not our right to give away. As there is no DRM mechanism for MP3 files, and there is for WMA and AAC, if we want protected digital content we'll have to either change the copyright laws, break them, or live with the limitations.

I was able to copy to my CF card, but it won't play. I can see the license with it, too. I tried copying to main memory and it plays fine.
