Window Media Problems
So when I go to add a song to my axim via windows media 9, it just copies it, its not converting it to WMA so its reduced in size. I used to do this with WM 8 on my pc and axim, but I got Windows mobile 2003, with WM 9 and WM9 on my pc now.
Anyone know why this happens? How to fix it? | |||||

hmm.. if you are expecting activesync to convert the song to .wma when you transfer it from you comp to your axim, then you should stop expecting that, because its not gonna happen. i am assuming that when you say 'song', you are refering to an mp3 file. the best way to make an mp3 into a wma file is with a seperate program called windows media encoder v9. using this program, i am able to make a 9mb mp3 turn into a 2.3mb wma, using the ppc standard 64kbps bitrate. the quality is not super fantastic, but it sounds decent enough, and i can have about 4 hrs. of music in about 120mb. im not exactly sure what you are asking, but if this didn't answer it, let me know.

nah...i never said active sync would do it. If you open the song, or songs in window media player, and go to copy to device you can hit copy and have it send the songs to either the ppc or the SD card if you want. What I couldn't figure out was why it was just sending the song at 128kbps over. I changed one setting in Windows media player 9 so it will automatically convert songs down to 64 kbps when copying a song to device or CD. I answered my own question, and may have just saved you alot of time if you try what I do
