SD Card
I want to solve my Video and Music playing problems by purchasing a 256MB SD card to replace the 128MB CF card I am currently using. Am I right in assuming that this will solve the problems with video and audio playback skipping to the end, jumping etc.

SD cards are faster than CF cards but I'm not sure on how this speed increase might a movie from jumping to the end without updating the screen. SD is faster but not twice as fast. How large are your movie files? My movie files don't jump to the end and I'm using Pocket TV running on a 300mhz ppc2002. Mines a little jumpy but still plays the whole file.

Ok...this may relate to to my problem.
I can't play an entire MP3 file on Windows Media. It plays like 5 seconds of it then it quits. They played alright when they were in the built in system memory. My dilemma is I don't want to clog my system memory with MP3 files. Will placing them on a SD card possibly solve my problems?

it doesn't seem to matter about the size of my files, they all jump! It's a well documented fact (i think) that when watching vids or listening to music off a CF card, it's prone to jumping. Do a search in this forum and you'll find some topics on the subject.
What actually happens in my case is when watching a video, it suddenly freezes picture, then a few seconds later the sound, then the timer says something ridiculous like '3256:29:13' before skipping to the next track (audio files are the same except the video bit doesn't freeze, coz there isn't one!). These symptoms appear in Windows media player, and at random points in the file.
PocketMusic also struggles on audio files, so it's not just WMP, however PocketTV and PocketMVP don't appear to have problems with mpegs (the files I want to view are wmv's so I can't use TV/MVP).
I have a friend whose father has an 2210 with an SD and doens't suffer, so I'm just asking if anyone can confirm that my problems will be solved when using an SD card.
Thanks

unless you can confirm that your CF card is only 4X or less, getting an SD card will not help. most of the cards on the market today are 10X, regardless of SD or CF.
it is also possible that your CF card is defective, in which case either a new CF or SD card should do the trick.

I'll have to look into the speed. I'm pretty sure that my Sandisk 256 MB CF card is 10x...does anyone know for sure? Thanks a bunch!

I've posted about this before. I found a problem with SanDisk brand CF cards and media.
I tested this with 2 SanDisk CF cards and 2 non-SanDisk CF cards. Windows Media player files skip and crash using the Sandisk. However, the same files play perfectly on non-sandisk cards.
Try using a non-Scamdisk CF card and see if that corrects your issue.
Maybe someone can make a sticky thread about this issue?

oh yes.. sandisk sd cards are worse than their CF cards...
you might want to check out wal-mart... they are selling a "rebrand" of Lexar 128 mb sd cards called IMPACT for 25 dollars...

Wow...I saw that in the paper, but didn't realize that they were rebranded. And I never knew that sandisk SD cards were worse than their c/f's. Thanks!

My card is a Sandisk :(
I was aware of the Sandisk SD card problems, but didn't think they applied to their CF cards too. I will try and send the card back and get another brand (it was an online shop so it may prove difficult).
